About us
Our History
The long-standing ties between Federal Auto Cars Sdn Bhd and its principal marque, Volvo, began on March 3, 1960 with the formation of Federal Auto Co. Ltd in Penang.
Starting with an initial capital outlay of RM550,000, Federal Auto Cars introduced Volvo for the first time, to Singaporeans and Malaysians. Taking on the role of importer and distributor, the first year saw sales hitting 348 units of Volvo 122
with a turnover of RM6.5 million. From there, the popularity of this marque steadily progressed.
It became one of the most sought after luxury cars on Malaysian roads. Volvo car
sales hit its all-time high of 3,722 units in 1984.
In 1999, Volvo Car Corporation of Sweden took over the role of importer and distributor of Volvo cars in Malaysia via Volvo Cars Malaysia. Since then, Federal Auto Cars has concentrated on providing best in class retail solutions and services.
Federal Auto Cars has seen its share of fluctuating fortunes, economies and
changing policies in the Malaysia automotive landscape. Through it all, it has
remained unwavering.
Now, Federal Auto Cars can boast of an illustrious history spanning close to 50 years
in the region where it has become synonymous as the largest and most established Volvo dealership.
